چکیده

VALIDATION OF FAO/IAEA/PANAFTOSA ELISA KIT FOR THE DETECTION OF ANTIBODIES AGAINST FOOTAND-MOUTH DISEASE VIRUS IN VENEZUELA. A liquid phase blocking ELISA (LPBE) supplied by FAO/IAEA/PANAFTOSA has been evaluated for the qualitative and quantitative detection of specific antibodies to "O" and "A" serotypes of foot-and-mouth disease (FMD). A total of 240 bovine sera were analyzed. 120 sera from non-infected and non-vaccinated cattle were tested in a screening test showing a specificity of 99,2%. 120 from vaccinated cattle were tested in a titration assay giving a sensitivity of 99,2%. For serotype “O” the titration test showed a protection of 80% and for serotype "A" 75,6%. Antibody titers fluctuated between >112 and >1250 which indicates protection.

Further evaluation of an ELISA kit for detection of antibodies to a nonstructural protein of foot-and-mouth disease virus

An ELISA kit for detection of antibodies to a nonstructural protein of foot-and-mouth disease (FMDV) was further evaluated using sequentially collected serum samples of experimentally infected animals, because the sensitivity of the kit used in a previous study was significantly low in field animals. The kit fully detected antibodies in infected animals without vaccination; however, the first d...

Abstract : Foot and Mouth Disease is one of  the important live stocks contagious viral disease caused by Aphtovirus genus ,  that is belong to family RNA virus  picornaviride. The important characteristic of FMD virus is high mutation that give rise to diversity of Antigen in surface of Neutralizing proteins. For this reason FMD virus have 7 distinct serotype and many subtype. Vaccination is o...
